wool felt, human hair, acrylic globe
5’ x 7’ x 3’
2008

World map made from human hair sewn on wool felt hangs upside down. This gesture of hanging the map upside down symbolizes the imbalance of international power and the amount of change needed to create a just and equitable planet. In front a 3-inch acrylic globe captures the reflection and turns it right side up.

Global Inversion is part of the Portland Art Museum collection.
