In my new series of work - Exposing The Inside - I am revealing the underbelly, the side you aren’t supposed to see. I cut the fruit carefully, eat the flesh, scrape the inside of the skin, and turn it inside out before stitching it back together. I am thinking about vulnerability, healing, historical trauma, and environmental collapse.
The fruit objects are illusive in their tenderness, and subversion. The texture and hue of the skin are ambiguous and the act of stitching can project violence or mending.
