The massive gnarled trees surrounding Boulder Lake in the Mt. Hood National Forest were sketched onsite. The branches were collected on a long ghost trail hike on the last day of my Signal Fire adventure.

After my week in the wild, I internalized the knowledge: from death sprouts new life.
