I had an idea a while back to create a pop-up book of political figures’ faces and print their rhetoric so that it distorted their faces. Originally I wanted to use the congress men who voted against the violence against women act. I would still like to do something along those lines. In the project’s hibernation I found this image I took of one of my experiments. It reminds me of our current presidential race. I am on pins and needles with this election and the future of our world.

I am inspired by the water protectors in North Dakota standing up against the powerful oil companies. This indigenous-led fight is one we must all join.
“As people of European descent who benefit from both white privilege and settler privilege, we understand that our work and writing is most effective when it is developing and acting upon a mutual stake in decolonization.”  Please read this article by Berkeley Carine and Liza Minno Bloom on how to support Standing Rock.

Mark your calendar on November 18 in Salem at the Capital building there will be a #NoDAPL (No on the Dakota Access Pipe Line) protest march starting at 10:45 AM. Let’s carpool down – let me know if you want to go.

I am honored to be included in the textbook, Art For Everyone. My piece Global Inversion is under Fiber Arts on page 118-119. It will be included in the exhibition. I plan to go to the daytime reception on November 2 – hope to see you there!

This coming Saturday, November 5 from 4 – 6 PM is the opening reception for POP-UP NOW II at 23 Sandy Gallery. My artist book, object n. object v. will be on display. Hope to see you at the reception!

Here are a few images from the show Hairy Matter in Denmark. It looks like a very elegant show. Photos taken by Poul Ib Henriksen.

Animation of my Amazon ink drawings by Adam Sirkin will be part of Tempo & Transition a community collaboration at Cascade Gallery located at Portland Community College – Cascade Campus TH102, 705 N Killingsworth, Portland. The exhibition runs November 7 – December 7 2016. The Gallery is open M – F (9 AM – 5 PM). Artist’s reception is Thursday, November 17th from 4 – 7 PM. There is also a workshop that day from 2 – 4 PM.

I have been printing away in my studio this past month – text and images for my AMAZON book. Above is the title page. AMAZONS will be ready to take to CODEX Feb. 5 – 8 2017.  Stay tuned…
